JOIN TO «EUBEACHCLEANUP» CAMPAIGN
Every year in September the European Union holds «EUBeachCleanup» global campaign aiming to protect ocean and raise public awareness. In partnership with the United Nations the EU calls community to have its part in the environmental protection and careful attitude to the oceans through the global plastics pollution abatement and prevention efforts, including marine debris. Together we can turn a drop into the ocean, into a wave of change.
It should be noted that over 40 thousand volunteers from 80 countries across the world were mobilized in 2019.
«The ocean starts with you» – it was a slogan of the«EU Beach Cleanup» campaign in 2020. By this message the European Commission wanted to emphasize that the ocean, seas, lakes pollution problem solving is in our hands. This year it is held under a slogan «Together to protect marine life». Indeed, we alone unable to reverse the situation – it is necessary to unify, make changes in our everyday habits and, generally, it is better to be aware of our impact on planet. 2021 edition will be focused on the marine biodiversity protection on the eve of the UN biodiversity conference in October.
The events will be held in online as well as wherever practical in offline environments. The final event will be held in the International Coastal Cleanuop Day – on September 18.
